Associate Attorney The candidate will have the background and self-confidence to take on significant litigation responsibility and act independently. Will handle cases through all stages of litigation, including initial client contact, case evaluation and investigation, drafting pleadings, preparing and responding to written discovery requests, taking and defending depositions, motion practice, hearings and trial. Strong work ethic and positive personality required to join this law firm culture. Handle cases from inception to close and provide frequent status updates to clients. Complete extensive case-related research into relevant laws and regulations, negotiate on behalf of clients, draft and interpret contracts and legal documents, and oversee compliance to these documents. Interpret case law and decisions handed down by other applicable courts. This can involve analyzing the effects of a good many factors that might have been involved in other cases. Create and maintain a good rapport with firm's clients. This includes communicating often and explaining complex legal proceedings and concepts. Consulting with clients to ascertain the details and merits of each case. Drafting legal documents including but not limited to, reports, budgets, pleadings, motions, contracts, and appeals. Represent clients in court hearings and trials; assist in preparation for trial; attend and conduct depositions of parties and non-parties; attend mediations; attend trials. Ensuring that data obtained during interactions with clients remain confidential and are stored securely. Reporting on hours spent on each assignment.Remaining abreast of changes to legislation. Must have 2 years experience in defense litigation and nursing home negligence. Law Degree from an accredited law school required. Active license to practice law in the state of Florida is required. Trial experience preferred.
