Associate Attorney The candidate will primarily focus on the development, implementation and defense of policies promoting DERs, transportation electrification, utility-scale renewable energy projects, and community choice aggregation in states across the country, concentrating on California and Hawai i. The Associate will provide support in litigating administrative proceedings, including drafting discovery, briefs, and comments, conducting cross examination, and advocating in workshops at state and federal regulatory commissions. The Associate will also assist with negotiating and drafting power purchase agreements, engineering procurement and construction contracts and other documents to support the development of clean energy projects. The candidate should have an active membership in good standing of the California Bar (bar membership in other states will be considered) and a juris doctor degree from a top law school. Should have 3-5 years of experience in either a law firm or in-house legal role. Must have solid written and oral advocacy skills, especially communicating legal, technical and analytical information in a clear and persuasive manner. Should have 1-3 years of experience representing clients before state or federal regulatory agencies, ideally in a hearing room environment. Must have experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements on behalf of clients, particularly power purchase agreements. Should have strong legal research, analytical and quantitative skills.
