The position will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical, document preparation/review and research support services to the firm. This position requires a candidate who is reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, accurate, extremely organized, and can handle multi-tasking and prioritizing in handling assignments. The candidate must also be able to follow directions, work independently, and must be persistent in follow up. Job Summary: Job Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant Salary: $50,000 - $75,000 a year Job Type: Full-time Location: Taunton, MA 02780 Qualifications: * Associate Degree (Required) * Paralegal Certificate (Required) * 5 years experience in a law firm with direct experience with civil litigation, employment and personal injury law matters (Preferred) * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Case Management (i.e. Amicus) or similar software * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment * Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment Benefits: * Health insurance * Opportunities for advancement * Paid time off * Retirement plan Duties and Responsibilities: * Client management including scheduling appointments, managing attorney calendars, drafting correspondence, and other administrative tasks * Meet with attorney(s), clients via zoom and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects * File Bankruptcy petitions for filing and experience with ECF/pacer systems * Draft legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures * Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items * Manage case files, ensuring that summaries are properly prepared and updated, litigation files are properly and securely maintained, and records and documents needed for litigation are collected and organized * Assist attorneys with trial preparation * Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases * Document and verify expenses * Maintain and update law library or other repository of legal department books, material, and resources * Coordinate travel arrangements and reservations for attorneys and support staff * Ensure legal department files are maintained and destroyed in compliance with record retention policies and procedures * Serve as backup for office functions including answering, screening, and directing *** a year and a great benefits package, including health insurance, opportunities for advancement, paid time off and a retirement plan.
