Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate will join a law firm specializing in complex insurance and appellate litigation. Responsibilities include: conducting pre-claim investigation, legal research, and factual research; researching public records; drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and appellate documents; filing documents in both state and federal court; performing administrative duties such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, scheduling, and other logistical issues; and maintaining pleading and discovery indexes. Candidate with insurance defense, multi-party litigation, and appellate experience in both state and federal court would be preferred. Must be computer literate and have better than proficient skill in all facets of MS Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel). Candidate with knowledge of rules and procedures in both state and federal systems preferred. Should have strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.
