Part-Time Probate/Estate Attorney The candidate will review records, interact with attorneys representing family, relatives, probate courts, and other third parties. Will prepare and process documents directed by the Attorney, gathering information necessary to complete the Estate Process, and be the point-of-contact for all Medicaid and related Matters. Prepare and submit court petitions to the probate court for various matters, including motions, appearances, and associated tasks. Additionally, must be able to multi-task, prioritize work and support the Attorney with multiple tasks, including monitoring calendar daily, meeting with clients, and preparing for upcoming meetings. Performs a wide variety of Paralegal functions to support all legal areas of the firm with a focus on Special Needs Trusts. Client Contact Communicates with clients via mail, email, and telephone to schedule appointments, discuss draft documents and changes to documents, answer general client inquiries. Communicates with financial advisors, insurance companies, probate court clerks, and state agencies when necessary. Third-Party Contact Communicates inquiries. Communicates with financial advisors, insurance companies, probate court clerks and state agencies when necessary. Proactively anticipates and resolves issues quickly. Draft and revise documents and prepare final documents for execution. Verify property ownership, request property descriptions from record deeds on the land records, and verify insurance coverage when appropriate. Prepares files/matters for Court hearings. Communicate with Court clerks. Draft Probate Court motions. Use and regularly update the firm s tickler system to track file activity and to document work completed and work to be completed. Makes recommendations to improve processes that will increase the service quality, efficiency, and responsiveness to clients. Performs other duties as assigned including scanning documents, conforming documents, and drafting Trustee Instruction letters. The candidate should have 3+ years of experience in probate, estate and elder law, including Medicaid and Estate Planning, Real Estate, drafting deeds, experience interacting with Attorneys Probate Courts and clients. Must be self-directed, highly organized, and a quick study.
