Attorney Duties: Present legal and business advice to companies with operations in Latin America, covering state-owned enterprises, concerning corporate formation and governance, compliance, technology license agreements, commercial and service agreements, and corporate litigation in oil and gas, financial services, and other industries. Coordinate with Latin American counsels to develop legal strategy from local, US and/or international law perspective, which includes analysis of domestic law and international treaties and regulations that apply to cross-border and corporate litigation, including treaty-based discovery procedures, foreign non-conveniens issues and blocking statutes, and matters involving evidence transported across international borders. Monitor and review federal and state laws and regulations and guidance from regulatory agencies applicable to firms corporate clients and advise on risk management strategies and compliance. Provide legal advice regarding audits by administrative and regulatory agencies. Provide legal and business advice regarding foreign direct investment in Latin America through wholly owned foreign enterprises and foreign joint ventures. Requirements: The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate or Master of Laws degree, a license to practice law in the State of Texas and 2 years of experience in the job offered.
