Paralegal Part Time The candidate will be preparing affidavits, legal correspondence, and other documents for attorneys. Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system. Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details. Completion of Client Intake forms. Filing pleadings with court clerk. Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed. Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, real estate closing statements, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents. Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action. Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas, gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents, and other data. Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings. Keeping law library up to date by monitoring legal volumes. Minimum of Associate degree or equivalent of 3 plus years experience required in Law Firm setting required. Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies, required. Typing/Keyboarding - Sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy required. Ability to use word processing software sufficient to type, format, edit and finalize legal documents and other written materials ensuring that they are properly formatted, grammatically correct and error- free required. Ability to provide courteous, effective & timely service to co-workers, other legal staff, and clients/customers required. Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment. Management of database required. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Excellent organizational skills required. Support other Secretary/Paralegals and Criminal/Family/Immigration law attorneys. Manage and organize incoming and outgoing documents from clients, other attorneys, etc. Attorney calendar/appointment management required. Document creation/reproduction such as printing, copying, and scanning required. Track court and document deadlines. Conduct e-Filing through the court's online e-Filing system. Maintain and update client files. Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and forward calls when necessary. Other duties as requested/required. Should be able to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and competency with technology. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro required. Bilingual/English - Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently well to perform the job duties effectively preferred. H1B, I-485, I-410, L1, TN preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with team, clients, and agencies preferred. 4-year degree and/or Paralegal Certification preferred. The candidate will be supporting practice by preparing documents like affidavits and legal correspondence, as well as organizing and maintaining files. Will also consist of filing court pleadings with court clerks, assist in preparation for trials by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as required. Should have previous Immigration/Family and Criminal Law expertise as a Paralegal or Legal Secretary, intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office/Google Suite, such as Adobe, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft Excel required. Word processing required. Computer literacy required. Paralegal Certificate required. Associate's degree required.
