Legal Assistant - Paralegal The candidate will handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines. Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly. Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals. Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested. Process client billing properly using daily time records with help from the accounting department. Prepare engagement agreements and review with new clients. Open and maintain physical and electronic files for clients. Request, organize and save client records. Close client files at end of representation. Draft basic communications and letters. Proofread and file attorney letters and briefs. Prepare and file documents with the court. Research issues and write legal memos. Provide administrative support to our legal team. Maintain practice and client confidentiality. College degree and/or paralegal certificate is required. Experience with legal software, litigation case management, and docketing programs is required.
