New York City office seeks Senior Manager of Marketing with 4 years of experience managing staff, and 7 years of related experience (law firm experience preferred). The candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the marketing and business development activities, involving attorneys and practices in the NY office in close coordination with Marketing & Business Development Department teams in the Washington, DC office. This includes serving as a strategic resource for and working closely with NY office attorneys and the Client Development Team to identify potential new business targets, establishing and/or facilitating coordinated attorney team initiatives around common business development goals, conducting and supervising prospective client company and business development issue research, and coordinating with the appropriate staff to create targeted and customized client and prospect pitch proposals and presentations. This position works closely with the Communications and Marketing teams to raise the profile of the NY office and its attorneys through strategic media, events, and branding opportunities. In addition, this position serves as the liaison to the Firm's Independent Business Consultant, and supervises the NY Marketing Assistant. Will work closely with the Chief Strategic Officer, Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications, Director of Client Development, Practice heads, and Firm leadership on targeted client development and strategic initiatives, identify and evaluate strategic business development opportunities for attorneys to advance their business development goals (events, speaking engagements, sponsorships, public relations opportunities, etc.), work in conjunction with attorneys and department on firmwide, multipractice business development initiatives, and manage NY office client development, communications, and marketing efforts. This includes close coordination with the Department's Client Development Team to coordinate business development efforts and with the Department's Communications Team to identify and pursue media opportunities focused on increasing firm and attorney visibility. The ideal candidate will also oversee development of targeted marketing and business development materials, as well as client development research analyses to support business development of attorneys in the NY office, develop and execute business development events and educational seminars targeting existing and potential clients, serve as a member of the Firm's social committee and coordinate social events in the NY office with the Senior Director of Administration in the NY office, and participate in editing and proofing as needed. The Senior Manager of Marketing will meet regularly with the Senior Director of Administration in the NY office to communicate relevant marketing and business development efforts involving NY office attorneys, participate in the interview, hire and performance evaluation process, work with Human Resources to resolve Employee Relations issues and must handle disciplinary actions up to and including terminations, have the ability to mange and mentor a diverse staff, and the ability to constantly communicate with attorneys, internal departments, vendors, and clients. Individual must be able to accurately and confidently communicate in both written and verbal form. Should have a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (advanced degree in these or related areas a plus). Should have strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work with minimal supervision and think strategically about projects, ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently and effectively, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong computer skills is a must. Experience using graphics and spreadsheet software (Excel, MSOffice, Internet) is a plus. This position may require more than 37.5 hours a week.
