The firm also has been criticized in many respects for its lack of diversity; however, we do not believe that this is a serious problem because the firm's recent hires have all been very diverse in our opinion. The firm also receives very high scores for the treatment of associates by partners and there does appear to be a very good relationship here between associates and partners with associates feeling they are part of the mix to a great degree and respected by partners. Most associates at this firm would much rather stay with the firm than switch firms. In our book this is a good sign.
Discovery Attorney The candidate will be responsible for document review and discovery-related tasks. The ESS Discovery Attorney II supplements core legal teams with licensed attorneys trained in document review procedures and have expertise in many document review platforms and litigation support technologies. Perform document review for relevance, privilege and issue coding. Perform quality control of document review work performed by other ESS attorneys and people employed by outside vendors. Identify documents and evidence for use at deposition and trial. Engage the use of relational database technology (e.g. CaseMap, Magnum) to collect and analyze evidence. Perform case analysis assistance and draft written summaries. Monitor and remain apprised of case law developments in electronic discovery. Monitor advancements in e-discovery and litigation technology systems.
This position requires a Juris Doctorate degree and at least 3 years of related work experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted. An ESS Discovery Attorney II must be licensed to practice law and be in good standing with the state bar where the Perkins Coie Office is located. Must have successfully completed 2 document reviews as a ESS Review Attorney to become eligible to apply for an ESS Discovery Attorney II position. Must possess strong knowledge of the principles of litigation support software such as Relativity, Concordance, CaseMap, and LiveNote, as well as, familiarity with the litigation process, including all phases of discovery and trial. They must have superb attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Will have excellent oral & written communication skills and strong customer service skills. Fluent in standard MS Office applications and ability to quickly master new litigation software is a plus. A proven ability to pay attention to detail, exercise discretion and maintain extreme focus. Previous document review experience preferred. Foreign language skills and advanced technical skills are a plus.
