Paralegal, Intellectual Property Duties: Serve as liaison between foreign counsel and clients. Manage docket of patent and trademark cases to ensure all are handled in a timely fashion. Coordinate filing of patent and trademark applications with foreign counsel throughout the world. Address formalities and procedures of the various Patent and Trademark Offices globally and resolve certain objections raised by those offices. Prepare powers of attorney, assignments, and other formal documents as needed. Manage client communication to keep them apprised of the status of the patent application and to obtain any materials/information that are relevant to the prosecution of the patent application. Coordinate intake and opening of new matters. Prepare, maintain, coordinate and manage annuities for foreign patent applications. Prepare, maintain, coordinate and manage renewals for foreign trademark registrations. Review and reporting of correspondence received from foreign Patent and Trademark Offices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a certificate of completion from a paralegal training program is required. Preference may be given to candidates passing the American Bar Association (ABA) program. 5 years of experience functioning as a paralegal preferably working with intellectual property, patents, and similar cases. Must have excellent attention to detail, organization skills, writing, and keyboarding skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 10 office suite is required and experience using docketing software (PATTSY) is preferred. Under exceptional circumstances, relevant work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
