Director of Attorney Recruiting Duties: Collaborates with the Lateral Hiring Partner, Practice Group Leaders, and other firm leadership to identify current and future lateral hiring needs in accordance with the firm s strategic plan, and develops and implements strategies to attract the most talented and motivated lateral candidates. Manages all aspects of the lateral attorney recruitment program, ensuring appropriate communication and coordination with candidates, firm attorneys, administrative management, and third-party recruiters. Prepares lateral hire offer letters and Lateral Hire Questionnaires, working closely with firm administration and the firm s General Counsel and Practice Leaders to ensure policies and questionnaires are updated in accordance with changes in law, and that conflicts are cleared in a timely manner. Has a good understanding of firm and practice group culture and can easily screen lateral candidates for appropriate fit. Conducts due-diligence on all lateral candidates, including checking references and bar admission status and verifications. Develops effective and positive relationships within the firm and the legal recruiting community to have a positive impact on the firm s recruiting program. Creates and maintains an environment of equal employment opportunity, diversity, and competitive advantage in support of the firm s diversity and inclusion efforts. Collaborates with the Chief Development Officer to develop, initiate, and maintain effective programs for lateral attorney integration and retention. Stays abreast of market trends in practice area growth and decline and is able to educate firm leadership in order to drive change in these areas to facilitate business development opportunities. Stays abreast of external legal recruiting trends and is able to make strategic recommendations given findings and experience to ensure the firm s competitive market position. Leads, develops, and manages the firm s recruiting team across all offices, providing leadership in the establishment of the firm s brand and recruitment strategies that ensure the delivery of the firm s operational standards in recruitment activities. Develops recruiting policies, procedures and initiatives and oversees the implementation of and compliance of same, collaborating with firm leadership to train on such policies as appropriate. Develops and implements attorney training for interviewers before on campus and in office interviews. Oversees and supervises the day-to-day operations of the legal recruiting staff. Oversees the coordination of legal recruiting activities and events in all offices. Examines hiring trends to anticipate the firm s response to law school admission and labor market changes. Actively participates in, contributes to, and supports a variety of firm committees and teams, including the Strategic Lateral Hiring Committee, the Lawyer Development Committee, the Associate Recruiting Committee, and the Attorney Development Team. Oversees the recruiting and lateral hire budgets, allocating resources appropriately across offices. Oversees industry surveys, including NALP Directory, Vault Reports, American Lawyers Surveys. Creates and maintains a standardized reporting system that evaluates the success of current recruitment strategies, developing solutions to improve where appropriate for the betterment of the firm. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. 10+ years' relevant work experience preferred. Creative, strategic thinker with ownership mentality and excellent follow up. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with lawyers at all levels, as well as staff, peers, and a variety of external entities. Excellent leadership skills with proven ability to proactively drive results. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to command a room. Must have high level of attention to detail and be highly organized. Thorough knowledge of NALP s principles and standards. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle a wide variety of responsibilities, with the ability to adapt to change. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Outlook, and applicant tracking software (viDesktop preferred).
