This firm is absolute huge, with offices and attorneys worldwide. Surprisingly, however, there is a good bit of collaboration between offices within any given practice area. One associate we know has worked for partners in three cities, and is perfectly comfortable handling projects from any of these lawyers. With some unexplained attrition of late, this firm has more work than it can handle, but continues to be highly discriminating in terms of the associates that are hired. Don't wait for hand holding in this DC office, jump in and lend a hand.
Chicago office seeks a research librarian with 3+ years of reference experience in a legal or business library to join the research team. The candidate will be responsible for: Performing legal, business and other practice area-related research; assisting users in the selection and use of print and electronic research tools; training attorneys and staff on resources; and assisting other national library projects as assigned. An advanced degree in library science, business, or law is required. Proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, LivEdgar, and other electronic sources for legal and non-legal research is a must, as is research experience in both print and electronic resources and the ability to determine the appropriate resource based on time and cost requirements.
