Legal Assistant / Paralegal Responsibilities: Managing the professional calendar coordinating and scheduling appointments, mediations, and court hearings. Completing administrative duties such as making copies, answering and directing phone calls, and greeting clients. Corresponding with counsel, court, and clients. Reviewing case files to ensure the presence of all required files. Screening telephone calls and visitors to the firm. Drafting documents and letters from existing templates. Assisting with accounting and billing. Performing routine clerical tasks such as reviewing, distributing, and responding to incoming mail. Performing data entry, maintaining files/records, faxing, or photocopying. Composing and/or editing correspondence, memoranda, directives, notices, orders, e-mails, and other documents observing strict confidentiality. Organizing papers for filing. Qualifications: A High School Diploma. 1-year of College or Vocational School education in paralegal, secretarial skills, computer operations, or a closely related field. Preferred Experience in Family Law and Personal Injury. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: Familiarity with a variety of office machines and software programs, such as Google calendar, Microsoft Word, and various legal programs such as Clio and Family Law Software. Ability to type 70+ WPM. Ability to work with minimal supervision and recognize and establish work priorities. Ability to handle sensitive matters with integrity and confidentiality. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to handle individuals who are under stress with courtesy, tact, and patience. Ability to organize and coordinate schedules of various individuals.
