Legal Secretary The candidate should have ability to type and complete forms and documents concerning bankruptcy, real estate, estate planning, business and transactions and probate and trust administration. Dictation, including transcribing microcassette tapes. Schedules and manages appointments, including meetings, conferences, court dates and depositions. Reviews, prioritizes files and routes incoming mail. Arranges for service of documents. Communicates with court clerks, clients, opposing counsel and other external contacts as needed or directed. Maintains current and orderly files according to Firm practices. Answers telephone calls. Provides relevant and timely information to clients and other Firm staff in a professional, courteous and effective manner. Excellent organization, interpersonal and communications skills. Excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills, as well as the ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in various stages of processing or completion and meet all prescribed deadlines for each. Two - three (2-3) years of experience working in a law practice (5-10 years preferred). Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to learn new software. Familiarity with Federal and State electronic filing and court rules a plus. High School Diploma/GED required; Associates Degree preferred.
