The founding partner fled big firm life to start a new boutique law firm, with an emphasis on litigation. Although very small, the work here is described as top of the line, and the firm has already played its part in some major antitrust disputes. The work here will be as good as the big guys, but you will be guaranteed more responsbility on a file, and the hours that such responsibility entails.
Paralegal Duties: Provides legal support for various case teams. This requires conducting research, managing deadlines, managing personalities and competing work flows and demands. Create, index, and manage complex case files (both electronically and in hard-copy via binders, folders, and boxes); Maintain case calendars and litigation files including document organization and retrieval, document production and Bates labeling; retrieval and review of documents and expert reports; Assist with court filings including editing, cite checking, preparing exhibits and supporting documents; Assist with complex discovery projects including, but not limited to, document review and production, deposition prep and privilege logs; Interface with clients, other law firms and vendors; Provide necessary support during trial preparation; Familiarity with or willing to learn applicable local, state and federal court rules, e-filing procedures, retrieval of patents, patent litigation, USPTO procedures and websites supporting IP practice. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with strong academic record. 3-5 years of Paralegal experience. Prior knowledge of Westlaw and litigation support platforms such as Relativity, Concordance, CaseMap, TextMap is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, navigating databases and various research services. Available to work overtime as required, even on short notice. Previous trial experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, exercise excellent attention to detail, be a creative problem solver, be able to function independently and as well as part of a team, have the ability to prioritize effectively and professionally and show good judgment and initiative. Requires a certain level of technical expertise, so proficiency in desktop and litigation support technology is required. Confidence and strong interpersonal skills. Resourceful, detail-oriented, and self-managing. Team player. Professional and demonstrate good judgement, discretion, and initiative. Comfortable with performing research and using various online research services. Able to multitask in a fast-paced, high pressure environment and meet deadlines. Anticipate attorneys' needs, assignments and problems. Demonstrates a high degree of dedication and flexibility. Must have a high tolerance for stress and work well with diverse personalities.
