Legal Secretary Duties: Primary responsibilities are administrative in nature, including calendaring, timekeeping, data entry, scanning, and client correspondence. Legal secretarial tasks will also be required including typing, filing, and preparing legal documents and pleadings. Familiarity with Court electronic filings is a plus. The candidate should have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Time Matters is a plus. Communicating with clients; Scheduling and arranging appointments and meetings; Answering the telephone; Receiving and directing clients; Opening, sorting, logging, and distributing incoming mail; Ensuring that copies of correspondence and documents are properly filed and distributed. Preparing outgoing correspondence; Preparing and editing legal documents and pleadings; Filing court documents electronically, first ensuring they are in proper format and contain all necessary portions or related documents for court acceptance; and Maintaining attorney calendar.
The candidate must have 2+ years of legal secretarial experience. Estate planning experience is a plus. Must be highly professional, possess a friendly demeanor with clients and coworkers, and possess excellent telephone etiquette, as there is significant client interaction. Must be a self-starter, require minimal supervision, and be willing to actively participate in the client solution process with the team. Requires great attention to detail and accuracy of work. Exceptional organizational skills are a must along with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Impeccable communication skills required. Must be able to follow established office procedures with minimal guidance. Should have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Familiarity with Court electronic filings and Time Matters is a plus.
