Commercial Real Estate Paralegal Duties: Coordinating due diligence for real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, etc. Advanced title review, including, analysis and summary of title commitments, reports, abstracts, and surveys. Working with title companies through issuance of policies. Working with clients, lenders, and other parties to complete necessary steps in the transaction process. Research and analysis of deeds, title policies/endorsements, tax liens, judgments, and UCC filings. Drafting and recording a variety of documents, including, deeds, mortgages, memoranda of leases, UCC. financing statements, etc. Preparing and distributing closing binders and closing checklists and coordinating the closing process for various real estate transactions. Creating and following internal checklists. Supervising clerical staff who assist with various tasks. Overseeing recording and monitoring deadlines through tracking systems. Requirements: Bachelor's or Associate s degree in paralegal or legal studies from regionally accredited college or university required (exemplary experience may be substituted for this requirement). NALA Certification or NFPA Registration highly desired, advanced certification in Real Estate a bonus. Experience with business organizations transactions a plus. 5+ years' transactional real estate experience with recent, heavy title & survey review experience in a law firm setting. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requires strong attention to detail. Requires self-motivation. Requires the ability to respond timely and effectively in a team atmosphere. Requires the ability to multi-task independently under deadlines . Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule. Real Estate Paralegal Responsibilities: Review title, survey, and title commitments and respond to title and survey comments from counterparties. Perform due diligence, coordinate and implement transactions and work with team to close both debt and equity commercial real estate transactions. Work with vendors to order various due diligence certificates and searches. Work directly with the title companies to finalize title policies for transactions. Track transaction tasks and phases and communicate progress to team as issues and/or items are resolved. Assist with entity formations, draft corporate resolutions, keep minute books and other corporate tasks. Assist attorneys in preparation for, and attend, closings.
