Patent Attorney

Title : Patent Attorney

Location : California - Palo Alto
Refer to Job # XYCA719029

This is one of the largest firms in the State of California. We met a hiring authority of this firm for lunch recently, and because this individual did not know us, we were seated at the table next to them. We did not talk to them for over an hour of waiting time, until we discovered that the hostess had forgotten to seat us together, and had seated us a table apart. Needless to say, we both got a good laugh out of that. This firm is very strong in most of its practice areas, including litigation, labor and banking work. Some of the more distinguished litigators in the State of California call this firm their home. The management of this firm is also awfully good and has managed to stay small despite the proliferation of massive management committees at other large law firms. Associates at this firm also seem to fraternize together quite well. One recently held a "keg party" at his home for other associates and there was a large and enthusiastic turnout. This is a real quality of life law firm, and the people here seem to enjoy their lives both at and outside of work. Not surprisingly, a firm of this caliber is able to attract top attorneys of all backgrounds and has managed to remain fairly selective in its hiring. We also like the diversity of this firm and its people. Finally, we think the associates working here tend to be quite "chatty," and the partners even seem this way too. We like chatting because we talk on the phone for a living so this firm gets thumbs up from us. This is the ideal spot for bright, ambitious attorneys with solid work experience and outstanding academic achievements.

Paralegal - Patent Prosecution

Title : Paralegal - Patent Prosecution

Location : California - Palo Alto
Refer to Job # XYZV717860

Experience the prestige and challenge of Fortune 500 companies including dot coms, while enjoying the sunny lifestyle of the Southwest at this very busy, larger firm. Well-reputed in intellectual property, civil and securities litigation and corporate transactional practices, it is always striving towards excellence and professionalism in its associates, and actively encourages new associates to delve into responsible roles as soon as possible. Ready to meet the challenge? The associates here are some of the happiest associates in Phoenix and truly seem to enjoy the work that they do. We do not need to tell you that as a very successful Arizona firm the people here do appear to work very hard and we hate to say it but we will: Many are working New York type hours. The firm also has been criticized in many respects for its lack of diversity; however, we do not believe that this is a serious problem because the firm's recent hires have all been very diverse in our opinion. The firm also receives very high scores for the treatment of associates by partners and there does appear to be a very good relationship here between associates and partners with associates feeling they are part of the mix to a great degree and respected by partners. Most associates at this firm would much rather stay with the firm than switch firms. In our book this is a good sign.
Paralegal - Patent Prosecution The candidate will perform paralegal functions and provide support services for patent filings to lawyers and clients. Job responsibilities include: preparing and filing patent applications and various prosecution documents via the electronic filing system (EFS-Web); communication with clients; and maintaining and reviewing docket. Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Acrobat, and Outlook. Excellent grammar, proofreading, and English composition skills is also essential. Requires 5+ years of recent experience working as a patent prosecution secretary or paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department, or equivalent. Legal 5 - 0 Full Time 0000-00-00 00:00:00
