This high-powered, long-established firm offers great opportunities for top-notch candidates seeking rapid growth and high volume in intellectual property and dozens of other challenging practices. For example, the attorneys in this firm are all almost universally very nice people to work with and this firm puts a real powerful emphasis on quality of life issues for both its associates and partners. Without exception, the firm’s attorneys claim they are treated with a tremendous amount of respect – the firm is genuinely interested in making long-term relationships with people. Management is extraordinarily introspective about the candidates they interview – according to one candidate, the firm is “almost philosophical” in its approach towards recruiting. Attorneys here typically bill in the 1800 range.

Correspond with clients regarding upcoming annuity deadlines; collect annuity retainers and instruct payments through the firm's annuity payment service. Conduct patent searches. Extract and organize data retrieved from public and private databases. Respond to patent due diligence requests. Participate in patent filing strategy discussions and prepare accurate foreign filing estimates for budgeting purposes. Conduct factual research (for example: foreign requirements and allowances, chain of title, formality requirements) for patent filings using software tools and library resources. Provide litigation and transaction support as needed. Accurately and completely record billable time spent and tasks performed in accordance with firm policy and client-imposed billing protocol, enter and release time promptly in compliance with firm's announced deadlines. Accurately and promptly submit records of hours worked in compliance with firm policy and applicable employment law. Assist with U.S. patent filings. Must have 3+ years experience as an intellectual property/patent paralegal, with a significant focus on foreign prosecution. We do not need to tell you that as a very successful Arizona firm the people here do appear to work very hard and we hate to say it but we will: Many are working New York type hours. The firm also has been criticized in many respects for its lack of diversity; however, we do not believe that this is a serious problem because the firm's recent hires have all been very diverse in our opinion. The firm also receives very high scores for the treatment of associates by partners and there does appear to be a very good relationship here between associates and partners with associates feeling they are part of the mix to a great degree and respected by partners.
