Will maintain calendar of various hearings and per diem appearances across the district bankruptcy courts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Coordinate appearances by both in-house and per diem counsel. Ensure prompt billing of hours and fees owed to the firm for document preparation and court appearances. Case management. Reviewing and addressing court and attorney correspondence. Mmust have Paralegal certificate. In lieu of a Paralegal certificate, a related degree with 2+ years of relevant experience is required. Corporate Restructuring Bankruptcy Paralegal The candidate will assist Attorneys representing debtors, creditors, and creditor committees in large chapter 11 bankruptcies and in business reorganizations and restructuring. Analyze large amounts of due diligence materials regarding all aspects of a company's business operations. Prepare and file First Day Pleadings; experience with Electronic Court Filings. Draft administrative first-day pleadings. Maintain deadline and attorney calendar. Cite check and research/update precedent in first and second-day pleadings filed; familiar with the local rules. Identify any changes that will affect the filings and send a detailed e-mail to attorneys indicating amendments. Coordinate with the client's financial advisors and the client to obtain and analyze certain due diligence material in preparation of major charts and notices to be included as part of the filing material. Correspond with clients, creditors and other interested parties regarding status of cases and other issues. Collate information and exhibits for motions, applications, notices, memoranda, proofs of claim and orders to the court. Assist with the preparation of fee statements and applications; maintain professional fee spreadsheets; analyze dockets, pleadings and monthly invoices and prepare detailed memorandum to clients summarizing the data. Proofread documents and exhibits, charts and diagrams. Work closely with other practice groups and offices on matters related to restructuring / reorganizations. Provide training to new paralegals and junior paralegals. Commitment to work overtime and available for travel as needed. Must have Bachelor s Degree. Should have 5+ years of experience as a Restructuring / Bankruptcy Paralegal. Working knowledge of Westlaw and Live Edgar is needed. Knowledge of Best Case Solutions and SharePoint is must. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Document Management System skills are required. Knowledge of Carpe Diem is a plus. Excellent knowledge and understanding of this practice area is must. Bankruptcy and Restructuring Conflicts Attorney The candidate will support the Conflict department's day-to-day tasks of conflicts of interest clearance, with a special focus on the firm's bankruptcy and restructuring practice. Will interact directly with Bankruptcy Practice Group, as well as assist with special projects related to the firm's professional responsibility, compliance and conflicts initiatives. Conduct research as necessary on new clients and involved parties. Utilize corporate databases to determine shareholders and substantial owners. Perform conflicts searches and processes requests within LegalKey and the New Business Intake system. Coordinate and correspond with the Bankruptcy Practice Group regarding large scale search requests to ensure deadlines are met. Develop expertise in bankruptcy court disclosure rules and requirements. Coordinate with bankruptcy attorneys to help evaluate and process results of conflicts checks. Keep team updated regarding the clearance status of new bankruptcy matters. Assists with report generation, and all other administrative functions in the department as necessary. Should have a J.D. degree. Must have 1-2 years of experience as a practicing attorney in the area of bankruptcy and restructuring or in a conflicts department. Conflicts of Interest analysis experience and/or knowledge of the law of conflicts of interest a plus. Aptitude for learning new systems, including ability to participate in discussions about design of existing or new system based on departmental and firm needs required.
