Senior Associate Immigration Attorney The candidate will be reporting to an Income Partner or Equity Partner, the Senior Associate will be accountable for managing clients and complex immigration cases. Senior Associates may supervise one or more attorneys and/or four or more Paralegals. Represent clients in business immigration law matters. Manage complex and difficult cases. Represent BAL at client sites at presentations or meetings. Maintain a high level of communication with all clients. Oversee and manage a team of Attorneys and/or Paralegals in case preparation and submission, including Assigning and prioritizing casework and projects. Training of Associate Attorneys, Immigration Assistants, and Paralegals. Ensuring accuracy of all work. Liaise with other attorneys in the firm and share information regarding business immigration law. Provide input on attorney-related policies and procedures. Oversee and take lead in law practice projects. Provide partnership assistance in addressing any perceived needs of the practice. Provide input to partnership on hiring and performance reviews for associates and Paralegals. Take a leadership role in establishing and maintaining quality and consistency of legal work throughout the firm. J.D. degree and must have passed a state bar examination. Must have at least a minimum of 5 years of Business Immigration experience. Must have excellent English writing and oral communication skills. Secondary language skills are a plus. Handle multiple case types, continually build on knowledge and develop expertise in new areas; independently handle cases; teach and mentor others; coordinate flow of cases and oversee projects. Process a high volume of cases of increasing complexity and variation; coordinate work for a major client and/or multiple clients partnering with attorney. Identify and evaluate problematic cases and provide strategies and/or solutions to issues. Prepare forms, letters, documents and correspondence for attorney review; adapt tools and resources for casework which deviates from templates. Communicate with assignees and HR contacts, often serving as main point of contact. Provide guidance to assignees and HR contacts regarding proprietary systems and case processing. Manage status of all filed applications and petitions and finalizes documents after attorney review. Prepare internal caseload reports for management; begin to generate reports for internal and external use to serve as effective quality assurance and to assist in client management and share process flow with assignees. Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, and standard processing times; review research performed by junior paralegals and legal assistants.
