Legal Secretary Duties: Prepare correspondence, contracts, memoranda and other documents in draft and in final form. Set up, maintain, and ensure that files are kept current, including classifying, arranging files, filing, and storing information in both electronic and hard copy format. Qualifications: 5-7 years of progressively responsible and varied legal secretarial experience. Exceptionally strong organizational skills and work ethic in delivering client products in a timely and organized manner. Excellent verbal and written communication with attorneys, clients, counsel and colleagues. Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic legal terminology. Knowledge of law office practices and procedures. Skill in the use of software systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Nitro, and Power Point. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, while working effectively to meet deadlines. Ability to establish good rapport with attorneys, clients, and other employees. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to accurately proofread a variety of documents, including lengthy contracts, and to pay attention to detail. Legal Secretary DUTIES: Performs a variety of complex duties with limited supervision. Supports attorneys with general liability background with an emphasis on insurance defense. Assures organization of files including maintenance and management. Monitors files and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement. Performs timely handling of highly sensitive issues and materials related to case. Conducts legal research using online media for experts, background searches, case investigation. Maintains calendar for trial and discovery deadlines. Obtains trial settings, coordinates and assist in preparation. REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or its equivalent required. 4+ years of prior legal secretary experience supporting litigators in defense litigation preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment. Florida State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook required.
