Litigation Paralegal The candidate will perform various substantive legal duties in a fast-paced Litigation environment under the supervision and direction of the attorneys in the Mobile office. Organize and maintain files from the inception of the case through the completion. Conduct factual investigations and interviews to identify key parties, related issues and relevant documents for the preparation of discovery. Assist in the preparation of answers to interrogatories and responses to requests for production of documents including the production of electronically stored information. Coordinate depositions of parties requested by attorneys. Summarize and organize depositions, records and testimony utilizing litigation support technology tools. Draft various pleadings and filings in Federal and State level civil litigation. Assist with all aspects of case litigation, trial preparation including identifying and marking exhibits for motions, position papers, mediation depositions and trial. Verify case citations in briefs for current validity and accuracy through Westlaw. Interact with various government and court officials as well as with clients. Maintain attorney calendars with case deadlines. Assist in trial with exhibits, demonstrative aids and witnesses. Maintain timesheets and meet firm deadlines in accordance with Firm policies. The candidate must have high school diploma or GED. A four-year college degree and a certificate in paralegal studies is preferred. Should have 2+ years of litigation experience and the ability to manage complex litigation using current technology. High level of computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office Software Suite and a working knowledge of a document management system is needed. Experience using electronic resources and litigation support software is strongly preferred. Knowledge of litigation support technology utilized in practice area is must. Manages and controls documents produced and received in litigation and responsible for knowledge and whereabouts of all documents for assigned matters. Has knowledge and demonstrates proficiency in use of all functionalities of caselogistix related to downloading, coding and tagging documents, creating document production sets for attorney review with the ability to produce the production on a deliverable media (i.e., CD, Flashdrive), creates index of production. Maintains expertise in all litigation support software. Responsible for Bates Stamping documents. Prepares deposition notices; responsible for managing all tasks related to deposition transcripts; downloads transcripts into caselogistix and Case Notebook. Schedules witness interviews and prepares witness binders for interviews. Prepares initial form and special interrogatories using Complaint and Answer if requested. Has knowledge and demonstrates proficiency in Westlaw and other online database research. Prepares timelines, outlines and other reports using casenotebook. Assists in preparing and filing Motions for Summary Judgment and other motions, attorney and witness declarations, exhibits, Notice of Lodging and other supporting documents and cite checks Points and Authorities.
