Maintain a detailed IP docket using a specialized software program, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adhere to strict deadlines are critical aspects of this position. Paralegal experience is preferred. Experience in filing electronically with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is needed. Will be facilitating correspondence with foreign associate firms to coordinate trademark filings around the world. Assisting with registration and transfer of domain names and management of domain portfolios. Docketing trademark deadlines and coordinating with firm-wide IP paralegals on related matters. Working knowledge of trademarks, patents, trade secrets, copyrights. Monitor applications. Research, investigate, analyze, and summarize facts and factual issues relevant to practice area. Draft, proofread, finalize, and file pleadings and other Court filings. Drafting notices to clients and foreign associates to report developments related to trademark applications and registrations. Assist with all stages of discovery, including litigation holds, document collection, reviewing and summarizing documents, managing document databases and deposition transcripts, preparing privilege logs, and coordinating with vendors. Performing daily case management tasks, such as verifying case deadlines and maintaining case calendar, organizing key case materials, etc. Assisting attorneys with depositions and trial preparation. Communicating with clients, vendors, USPTO personnel, court personnel, experts, attorneys and others as directed. Performing related duties as assigned. College degree is needed. Paralegal certificate is essential. High School / College degree is needed. Should have 3+ years of experience as an intellectual property paralegal or legal secretary in a position involving exercising independent judgment. Complete annual departmental budget information. Assist designated partner with agenda and meeting minutes for monthly meetings, as needed. Assist with hotel and vendor contracts in preparation of trials and hearings. Coordinate with outside vendors regarding annual contract renewals, new products and training. Perform miscellaneous duties as required. Bachelor s degree required and paralegal certificate from an American Bar Association (ABA) approval program is preferred. Complete bankruptcy and military compliance checks. Draft, prepare, and review legal documents and packages such as 10 days' notice, complaints, motions, affidavits, pleadings and the like. Conduct research on filing rules by county. Prepare check requests and fee approvals, as necessary. Communicate all events and developments to clients using portals, email and client preferred methods of communication (fax, mail, overnight, as appropriate). Discuss any issues regarding cases with paralegals, attorneys and managing paralegal. Establish a strong follow-up system, which includes proper calendaring, to ensure deadlines are not missed. Request pertinent documents, fees, and related items from clients and third parties and follow-up on unfulfilled requests. Maintain and organize files. Scan, upload and update all documents to case management system and client portals. Mail out correspondence to debtors and clients. Run CaseAware reports to track adherence to client deadlines. The candidate should have an Associate's degree or equivalent. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Paralegal certification from accredited school or 5+ years of legal support experience required. Must have 2+ years in a law firm, mortgage or servicing company, with preferred prior experience in default. Should have strong computer skills - Word, Excel and Outlook as well as general understanding of software systems to access and utilize client systems. Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with attorneys, staff and clients are required. Knowledge of client systems including LPS/Black Knight, Tempo, Lenstar, Vendorscape is preferred. Should preferably also have knowledge of legal case management system, especially CaseAware. Should preferably have prior bankruptcy and foreclosure experience working in an office environment. Must have 1+ year in a law firm, with prior experience in default.
