Legal Assistant / Paralegal The candidate duties include handling all aspects of pre-litigation and litigation tasks, including scheduling (depositions, hearings and mediations, etc.), preparing closing statements, demand letters, requesting medical records and bills, as well as overall file management. Receive intake calls and conduct client intake interviews. Manage litigation calendar by entering all appropriate information and routing entries to attorney. Prepare documentation for file. Enter information in Legal Files (LF). Respond to and manage client inquiries. Assist with scheduling and advance confirmation of depositions, including drafting of letters and notices, and day-before-telephone confirmation with opposing counsel and court reporter. Draft and/or assist with responses to discover requests including client contact for detailed information that normally is not found in the file. Order medical records/bills needed for file. Preparation of medical records summary as they come in and/or when case is ready for demand. Prepare cases for demand/settlement including: Pleadings, Settlement Sheets, Draft of Demand and File Disclosure Requests. Monitor, coordinate, and facilitate timely receipt of case related digital photos (client injuries, scene photos, etc.), medical records, reports, and depositions necessary for hearings. Monitor settlement process to assure timely preparation, signing, approval, and payment on settlement contracts. Make inquiries to opposing attorney s/adjusters, as requested or appropriate. Organize client files for litigation as they transfer from negotiation stage to litigation stage. Keep attorney advised of case developments. Keep legal files system updated with all case information. Type attorney dictation, if requested. Handle disbursements when requested. Other duties as assigned. Should have 2+ years of prior personal injury litigation experience. Previous experience with depositions, mediations, and trial preparation is required. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written), as well as the ability to work with a degree of confidentiality and professionalism delivering high-quality, customer-focused results in a fast-paced environment.
