Past experience working for a small-to-midsized law firm is ideal. Past experience must include legal writing namely, with respect to litigation filings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to provide excellent client service. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and E-Filing. Must be detail-oriented, capable to multi-tasking, and possess the knowledge and skills necessary to prioritize the workload independently. Proficiency in calendar maintenance, i.e., tracking a large volume of contemporaneous deadlines. The ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing priorities white remaining focused. Estate Planning Paralegal The candidate' must already be a reputable and experienced paralegal with at least 5 years of experience in estate planning who can perform the job duties below with little training or supervision. Primary Job Duties: Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and all ancillary documents. We use Wealth Counsel and Elder Counsel drafting software. Prepare and file probate court petitions and manage probate cases from start to finish. Draft trust administration documents, including notifications to beneficiaries, asset transfer letters, accountings, real property transfer documents, distributions agreements, etc.; Communicate with banks and institutions on behalf of successor trustees. Manage and prepare documents for all limited, non-contested conservatorships for young adult kids with special needs. Initiate and respond to client emails or calls on behalf of attorneys. (Please note we have other team members who primarily handle non-legal administrative tasks). Help coordinate and manage the client experience by ensuring all legal work is timely and competently performed. Occasional notary services when other team members are unavailable. Paralegal (Public Law) The candidate will assist in drafting and reviewing routine legal documents in Microsoft Word. Draft closing documents from start to finish, including resolutions, form filings, research and statistics compilation, and closing certificates and opinions. Manage the copying, uploading, and distribution of draft and final executed documents to interested parties, by Outlook E-mail, Firmex virtual document room, and/or Federal Express, as appropriate. Act as liaison with the client and any outside entities such as government agencies, corporations, vendors and other law firms to facilitate the transaction. Conduct final page-checking of final documents and final document transcripts. Draft closing checklists. Assist in closings by preparing, collecting from various transaction participants, and assembling closing files, DTC letters, final resolutions and opinions, good-standing certificates, and secretary of state filings, and managing or facilitating the pre-closings and closings. Prepare and distribute the closing transcripts to interested parties and transaction participants, including uploading the closing transcript to the virtual document room, preparing paper copies, and/or copying it to a disc or thumb drive, as appropriate. Review executed documents to ensure proper execution. Follow up with client and other parties to the transaction to ensure delivery of complete documentation required for closing binders. Organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. A Bachelor's degree and signed and paralegal certificate is highly preferred.
