Paralegal - Estate Planning The candidate will draft correspondence and pleadings as directed by attorneys. Under direction of supervising attorney, prepare draft estate planning documents and correspondence. Prepare drafts of probate and guardianship/conservatorship pleadings, memoranda, affidavits, legal briefs, motions, discovery notices, subpoenas, contracts, and other documents. Provide client support. Conduct legal research. Manage supervising attorneys schedule. Other duties and tasks of a substantive legal nature as assigned. Legal skills, including research and legal writing. Familiarity with legal terminology, forms, procedures and basic principles of law, especially those associated in the area of Estate Planning. Ability to establish priorities, work independently and with others, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision. Perform clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, managing court calendar and assist in meeting deadlines, provide information to callers and reading and routing incoming mail. Maintain client files. File documents and correspondence in client files. Maintain, revise and create Source documents for department use. Other non-substantive legal duties and tasks as assigned. Open, review and organize client files. The candidate should have Paralegal degree. 3 year of experience preferred. Document drafting skills, attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills and proficiency in Word also required. Computer and knowledge of various software packages: MS Word; MS Excel; MS Access; MS PowerPoint; legal billing program (ProLaw); posting time records; e-mail; electronic calendaring; WestLaw research, etc. Ability to use estate planning-specific software packages such as Miller-Davis and CLEPRO. Strong organization skills, as well as oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
