Family Law Paralegal Duties: The candidate should have strong knowledge of current state family law and county rules and regulations/E-file on all major platforms including Peach Court and Odyssey. Manage caseload from start to finish. Manage incoming discovery requests and compare documents received to documents requested and draft outgoing requests. Analyze discovery responses to ensure complete production and identify evidence helpful to the case. Prepare for hearings and trials by creating trial binders, conducting legal research, and organizing discovery. Save documents and files using the correct format for the firm so that documents can be easily located later. Manage discovery- Identify what is missing from us and the other party and what is needed based on the issues in the case from us and the other party. Work with billable hours and is able to meet minimum standards with ease. Communicate with clients, the court, and other attorney offices. Able to think strategically and work independently without solely relying on templates. Professionally handle client calls by updating them on the status of their cases and informing the attorney of any client calls, texts, emails, and concerns. Coordinate with GALS and mediators. Qualifications: The candidate should have prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal. Experience with Georgia Child support worksheets, E-filing in Georgia, and GA laws regarding divorce, custody, alimony, and child support. Should have excellent basic writing skills - good grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and sound writing structure. Strong memory and ability to recall information. Organized, organized, and more organized. Superior and proactive management of deadlines, due dates, and time frames. Superior communication and ability to maintain a pulse on multiple cases, ensure that the attorney is always aware of any client calls, texts, emails, and requests (Good memory and note-taking to ensure messages are promptly delivered and resolutions are discussed and communicated back to the client). Strong writing, spelling, proofreading, and the ability to accurately type at least 50 words per minute. Reliable transportation and stable personal life that does not interfere with the job. Strong follow-up and follow-through. Workplace ability- arrive on time, work well with others, communicate well. Open-minded and trainable. Committed to learning the firm policies, practices, and attorney preferences. Excellent with writing down notes on how to perform tasks and what tasks to perform. Calendaring skills to ensure that all tasks are completed. (Follow-up calendared when information is needed to or from us for court dates, discovery, document review, document submission, etc.). Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews (client update meetings, discovery meetings, etc.). Aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions. Manage discovery and information gathering process needed for litigation including drafting discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, coordinating with process servers, and tracking and drafting correspondence regarding responses received from our discovery requests (interrogatories, notice to produce, deposition). Manage cases- Keep clients informed, track case status, keep cases moving, and manage a case from start to close. Strong attention to detail and strong proofreading and visual skills. Must demonstrate excellent time management skills as well as computer savvy, embracing new methods and technology.
