Legal Administrative Assistant/Paralegal Candidate will be required to file, prepare, and type legal and administrative correspondence and documents; maintain legal files; communicate with clients, opposing counsel, Courts, and vendors; be responsible for preparing retainer agreements and billing statements under attorney supervision; and be responsible for maintaining attorney's calendar and following up on projects and deadlines. Will include: Open and organize case files. Close monitoring of attorney and court calendars. Strict adherence to deadlines. Inputting information into file database and case management software. Confirming case status with attorney. Help develop cases by maintaining contact with parties involved in the case. Schedule depositions, prepare and forward summonses and subpoenas. Prepare and file discovery requests, prepare responses to opposing counsel, generate status reports. Keep clients informed by maintaining regular contact and communicating case progress. Support case preparation by drafting case summaries and materials for conferences, prepare pleadings, monitor and gather responses, organize materials for team case review. Requirements: High School Diploma. 2 years of law office experience or equivalent required. Prior legal experience required. 2+ years in probate, guardianship and/or estate planning practice. Must be able to perform work under light to moderate supervision (be able to proof-read your own work). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and have a general understanding of office equipment. Knowledge of MyCase, WestLaw Doc & Form Builder, FastCase, and E-Courtesy and E-filing portal is helpful.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish (grammar is important). French/Creole proficiency is also a plus. Exceptional organization and time management skills and ability to follow up. Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving. Proficiency in MS Office 365, general internet proficiency (being able to search efficiently through a list of provided websites for information and documents) and general use of office equipment (i.e. computer, printer, scanner, phone system, mail system, etc.).
