Independent Contract Attorney The candidate provides legal research, writing and hearing/trial coverage services on an as-needed basis. Draft motions, briefs, and other pleadings in civil and criminal litigation matters (Bankruptcy, Collections, Landlord Tenant, Business Law, Criminal matters). Research legal issues, prepare research memoranda, and assist counsel in trial. Cover hearings or trials when counsel is not able to do so. Review contracts, employer policies, and other legal documents. Handle select cases from start to finish. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities required. Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations required. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects required. Excellent research, analytical, writing, and communication skills required. Litigation experience preferred. Licensed to practice law in the state of Maryland required. 1 year of legal experience preferred. Note: FTC job.
