Prosecuting Attorney Duties: may appear for any or all criminal or civil hearings that are filed into Municipal or District Court for Cities Responsibilities will include: 1) evaluating, negotiating, and trying civil infraction cases including photo red light enforcement; 2) evaluating, negotiating, and appearing for arraignments, pre-trials, in-custody, probation reviews, bench and jury trials, motions, and other court hearings; 3) legal research and writing including the research and filing of motions, preparing and redaction of discovery, preparation of jury instructions and complaints; 4) basic office tasks such as talking to clients and witnesses, filing, and understanding of court rules, 5) understanding that the paramount duty of a Prosecuting Attorney is to seek justice, and 6) professional courtroom appearance and demeanor required at all times. Requirements: Must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association. Prior Rule 9 or prior courtroom experience is required. WSBA Bar License, An excellent work ethic and commitment to public service is a must. Must have the ability to work well with others in a team environment as well as independently. Must work well under pressure, be able to make decisions, and have the ability to seamlessly adapt to a changing work environment. Knowledge of basic office skills required. Should have excellent legal research and writing skills.
