Criminal Law Paralegal The candidate will assist the criminal law attorneys with a wide variety of tasks, including communicating with clients, helping draft motions and petitions to be filed in the district and superior courts, and helping lawyers prepare for trials. Will be researching, preparing, proofing, and editing legal documents. Staff multiple phone lines, take messages and redirect calls when appropriate. Conduct initial screenings of clients and facilitate electronic intakes. Open, maintain, manage, and close client files. Prepare and manage multiple calendars and agendas, provide timely reminders to attorneys and staff, and ensure deadlines are met. Work effectively with a diverse group of clients. Handling confidential client or case information. Contacting courts to obtain evidence and transcripts. Organizing legal files, and undertaking general office work.
The candidate should have proficient technology skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Calendar, and Clio. Must have a solid understanding of, and demonstrated ability to comply with confidentiality requirements. North Carolina Paralegal Certification preferred.
