Paralegal/Legal Assistant Responsibilities: Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts. Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports and case files. Communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions. Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems. Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar, and answering telephones. Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys. Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper and electronic filing system. Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details. Filing pleadings with the court clerks. Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed. Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents. Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases. Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas, and scheduling of court reporters. Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings. Qualifications for Legal Assistant: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree preferred. 1-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines. Qualifications for Paralegal: Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies, or verifiable work experience equivalent preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
