Paralegal - Family Law Responsibilities: Calendar due dates, deadlines, and deliverables to/from the client, the court, opposing party, third parties. Compose, draft and send emails to clients, courts, attorneys, and third parties. Prepare for hearings and trials by creating trial binders, conducting legal research, and organizing discovery. Write and draft motions. Draft orders after hearings. Schedule and prepare for mediation. Save documents and files using the correct format for the firm so that documents can be easily located later. Managing discovery- Identify what is missing from us and the other party and what is needed based on the issues in the case from us and the other party. Draft subpoenas. Analyze discovery including bank statements and information for data relevant to the case. Ability to work both in-office and remotely- both are required. Understands billable hour and able to meet minimum standard with ease. Able to think and work independently without solely relying on templates. Professionally handle client calls by updating them on the status of their cases and informing the attorney of any client calls, text, emails, and concerns. Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews. Aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions. Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed. Manage discovery and information gathering process needed for litigation including drafting discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, coordinate with process servers, track and draft correspondence regarding responses received from our discovery requests (interrogatories, notice to produce, deposition). Manage cases- Keep clients informed, track case status, keep cases moving, manage a case from start to close. Manage a large volume of incoming emails, respond to clients. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting. Should have high-level organizational skills and time-management skills. Superior management of deadlines, due dates, and time frames. Excellent memory required, quick recall of people, facts, and cases. Comfortable with learning new technology and software. Strong execution and follow-up. Calendaring skills to ensure that all tasks are completed. (Follow-up calendared when information is needed to or from us for court dates, discovery, document review, document submission, etc.). Strong attention to detail. Strong proofreading and visual skills. Typing at 50+ WPM. Experience with Georgia Child support worksheets, E-filing in Georgia, and GA laws regarding divorce, custody, alimony, and child support. Superior communication and ability to maintain a pulse on multiple cases, ensure that attorney is always aware of any client calls, text, emails, and requests (Good memory and note-taking to ensure messages are promptly delivered and resolutions are discussed and communicated back to the client). Excellent attendance and work ethics required. Honest and trustworthy. Professional and skilled at handling sensitive family law case information. Talented communicator and writer.
