Estate Planning Paralegal Responsibilities: Proactively look for, suggest, and participate in ways to improve professional knowledge and job performance as well as the quality and efficiency of the firm's production, systems, and processes. Draft estate and asset protection planning documents, under the supervision of an attorney, including (but not limited to) Last Wills and Testaments, Revocable Living Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts, General Durable Powers of Attorney, Medical Powers of Attorney, Directives to Physicians, and Declarations of Guardian. Classify clients assets, coordinate the transfers of real property and non-qualified accounts into legal entities, and assist with the modification of designated beneficiaries for qualified accounts, life insurance, and annuities. Speak directly with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to provide updates, collect information, and provide the feedback necessary to complete assigned cases and projects according to specified deadlines. Schedule signings and hearings, and communicate with attorneys and clients, regarding the progress of their estate planning and court cases. Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date and manage client documents. Draft and file documents relating to uncontested probate and uncontested guardianship matters (we do NO litigation), under the supervision of an attorney, and file them with the courts in a timely manner. Qualifications: Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an associate degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies is preferred (we will consider candidates already enrolled). 1-2 years of paralegal experience in a law firm under an attorney working on estate planning, probate, and guardianship issues preferred (we will consider candidates with paralegal experience in other areas of the law). Excellent verbal and written communication. Highly analytical, with excellent organizational abilities, and strong problem-solving skills. Superb interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to function well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The ability to make autonomous decisions and take the initiative to manage, prioritize, and complete projects independently.
