Paralegal/Legal Assistant Candidate will assist attorneys in a general practice law firm. Will be providing support to the attorneys at the firm. Litigation responsibilities will include assisting attorneys in drafting and preparing litigation documents such as pleadings, subpoenas, motions, discovery demands and responses. Transactional real estate responsibilities will include assisting attorney in drafting and reviewing real estate contracts, reviewing and clearing title issues, drafting deed and transfer documents, as well as calculating adjustments for Closings. At the front desk, responsibilities will include greeting clients and visitors, gathering, and organizing mail and answering phone calls and redirecting calls when appropriate.
Qualifications: Experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant or paralegal. Experience in commercial litigation, general litigation, and transactional real estate is a plus. Should have experience drafting letters to clients, attorneys and Court. Should also have experience in e-filing with the New York State Unified Court System as well as service and filing of paper copy of legal documents. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and. Outlook. Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines. Ability to multitask and be comfortable dealing with a diverse range of work.
