Paralegal - Estate Administration The candidate should have a strong work ethic; exceptional time management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent client communications and service; proficient technology skills, including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite and general online research; and meticulous attention to detail with strong proofreading skills. Must be able to work independently, handling an estate from beginning to end, collaborating with team members as needed. Because much of the work is in the areas of accounting and taxes, the paralegal should have strong accounting skills. Must have an associate's degree from an ABA approved Paralegal Technology program and three to 5 years of paralegal experience. More extensive experience may substitute for degree requirement. North Carolina probate experience is highly preferred. Must have a NC Notary Public commission or the ability to obtain same. Will assist attorneys in the administration of estates, trusts, and guardianships, including drafting correspondence and legal documents and preparing inventories, accountings, and other probate documents; conferring with clients, beneficiaries, insurance companies, financial institutions, public officials, and court administrators; reviewing tax strategies and preparing various tax returns; gathering information and keeping abreast of administrative changes. The overall goal is to assist attorneys in ensuring quality service to our clients. All paralegal functions must adhere to NC State Bar Rules of Professional Conduct and are performed under the supervision of an attorney.
