Family Law Paralegal Duties: Answering and managing inbound phone calls. General clerical duties including scanning, photocopying, faxing and mailing. Interfacing with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel and their staff providing superior customer service. Maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems in a near-paperless environment. Document intake coordination and handling. Saving emails to case management software. Coordinating and managing attorney calendars. Scheduling and calendaring appointments. Managing attorney's cases. Handling requests for information and data. Gathering information and performing new client intakes. Conduct legal research. Assisting lawyers in the preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences. Creating and maintaining a case management database. Drafting legal court documents, such as motions, affidavits, and subpoenas, petitions, summons, responses and other substantive legal pleadings.. Drafting, managing and reviewing incoming and outgoing discovery. Working with client to gather and compile financial information. Organizing and analyzing documents. eFiling pleadings. Billing time for substantive legal work. Assisting attorneys/paralegals as needed with various legal duties as needed. Other duties as needed and/or desired. Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate or equivalent level of legal experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's or associate degree a plus. 2+ years legal office/administrative support, or related, experience. 1+ year of substantive legal experience. Experience in family law a huge plus. Strong and ongoing interest and desire in pursuing a career in family law. Ability to adapt and get along well with a variety of personality types including clients and staff. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to go above and beyond in order to get the job done or meet a deadline. Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook. Superior organizational skills. Strong work ethic with willingness to accept direction and work in a team environment Strong computer and technical skills Experience using FamilySoft (preferred but not required). Self-starter with the ability and desire to seek out new projects with little to no oversight. Strong work ethic with willingness to accept direction and work in a team environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize and/or multi-task when needed. Excellent problem-solving skills. Willingness to ask questions. Ability to type 55+ WPM.
