Paralegal - Family Law Duties: Handles various areas of law, one of which is Family Law, i.e. divorces, paternity cases, child support, etc. Will be responsible for preparing a high volume of legal documents (in the area of family law) on a daily basis. Will also be expected to follow instructions from the attorneys in the office with little to no follow-up. Will be expected to learn and understand legal terminology in order to effectively complete your tasks. Aside from drafting various legal documents, the paralegal s task/assignments shall include: calculating court-ordered child support and maintenance; preparing trial binders; providing assistance in trial settings, if necessary; preparing and reviewing discovery documents, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests; and filing in Cook county, as well as all surrounding counties. Qualifications: Completion of a Paralegal program, approved by the American Bar Association, is preferred. Must have experience in the preparation of legal documents, preferably in the preparation of legal documents in the area of family law. Excellent listening and communication skills, people/interpersonal skills, organizational skills and computer skills. Spanish fluency preferred.
