Paralegal Legal Assistant The candidate will conduct brief interviews with potential clients. Meet with clients to obtain information and documentation necessary to comply with mandatory disclosure, including financial affidavits and other discoveries. Communicate with clients in writing and on the phone in order to obtain the information and documentation referenced above. Set hearings, mediations, and depositions. Review and analyze discovery including tax returns, bank statements, pay stubs, and other documentation necessary for data entry into DPA and draft initial discovery responses. File pleadings, orders, etc., and upload exhibits for trials. Must be adept at using the court's e-filing system-Retrieve e-filed pleadings and ensure they are timely calendared and docketed. Should have the ability to follow specific directions; ability to multi-task and handle numerous client files at the same time. Specifically, must be able to utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work; have the ability to take the initiative and exercise analytical and independent judgment; excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to prepare concise and accurate written communication and data entry. Must use correct English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading. Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to work as a team player. Must display a positive attitude and have a professional appearance and demeanor, as this position involves heavy client contact; excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and case management programs. Bilingual is a plus. Should have the ability to return telephone calls on a timely basis; ability to maintain client confidentiality. Prior legal experience is required, and experience in Family Law is preferred.
