Legal Assistant/Paralegal The candidate must be able to work independently, as well as directly with our attorneys and other team members, to organize and manage case files. Must be involved in fact-finding projects and be responsible for maintaining both paper and electronic case files. Our caseload is continually growing and includes both business/general litigation and personal injury defense cases. Must be organized, professional, skilled in litigation, as well as billing entries. All aspects of litigation from the pre-suit work up, filing of suit, discovery, and trial. Order medical/billing records, accident reports, employment records, and insurance files. Organize records ordered and communicate with third party record company. Schedule and prepare for mediations and depositions. Prepare case and medical summaries. Cross reference medical providers and pharmacies. File documents with the Court including follow-up and service of process. Evaluate cases to determine viability and value. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, adjusters, and witnesses. Work with attorneys and other staff members in the firm on various assignments and topics. Draft correspondence, pleadings, and discoveries. Prepare discovery responses, document productions, and trial exhibits. Work with attorneys to develop legal arguments, motions, and other case filings. Maintain case files - paper and electronic; to include reports for attorneys as requested. Utilize existing files and other research resources to develop information for pending cases. Should have 2 years legal experience, preferably in a litigation defense capacity. Knowledge of billing time entries (litigation and insurance - using A&L codes - is a plus) is required. Must have experience with legal database software programs and law-related websites. Should have familiarity using Clio Firm Management Software.
