This large firm has a long history of serving clients throughout the Southern United States. They have a diverse practice that includes virtually all areas of litigation and transactional law. Pro bono work by all attorneys is encouraged, and billable hours credit is given. Associates receive excellent training and feedback, as well as early responsibility and meaningful work.
Business / Estate Planning Paralegal The candidate will prepare estate planning documents including wills, power of attorney, trusts, health care directives. Will assist in real estate transactions including the preparation of deeds and transfer documents. Draft letters of instruction to change the ownership and/or beneficiary on account retirement plans and policies. Prepare various forms for life insurance policies, retirement plans, brokerage accounts, etc. to name trust and/or entities as beneficiaries and owners. Draft contracts, employment agreements, financial documents, leases, resolutions, corporate, and maintenance documents. Draft and prepare regulatory filings, including UCC statements, federal and state trademark applications, IRS/state Department of Revenue filings, charitable registration/renewal applications and ad valorem tax exemption applications. Manage the formation and organization of various business entities. Provide ongoing support in maintaining their legal filings and corporate records. Research state and federal codes, agency guidelines ongoing. Must have high school diploma or GED. A four-year college degree and a certificate in paralegal studies is preferred. Significant prior experience may be substituted for a combination of the educational requirements. 3-5 years of Business/Estate Planning paralegal experience with the ability to utilize current technology is preferred. Must have a high level of computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office Software Suite and a working knowledge of a document management system. Experience using electronic resources and support software is strongly is preferred. Excellent time management, organizational abilities, attention to detail and strong proofreading skills are also required. Should have the ability to: account for and input time into computerized timekeeping/billing system; Interact with various government and court officials as well as clients; Open, organize and maintain client files while managing and meeting deadlines; Consistently and effectively work in a team environment as well as independently.
