Water Rights Legal Assistant or Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Calendaring; managing, reviewing and summarizing water rights consolidated into Water Court cases; drafting pleadings, discovery documents, and simple agreements; assisting with preparation of voluminous documents for production and discovery; completing water rights related DNRC forms; and occasional client meetings, both in-person and by telephone.
Qualifications: Associates degree, paralegal certificate, or 4-year degree preferred. must have 2+ years of experience working with water rights and water law in Montana or another prior appropriation state, or 2+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably working in multi-party litigation cases. Prior experience and knowledge of water rights does not necessarily have to be in a legal setting. Experience working at or with DNRC in the water resources division should apply as well.
