Job Description for Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal - Personal Injury at Law Firm H1: Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal - Personal Injury Law Firm is currently seeking a Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal to join their Personal Injury practice in Beachwood, Ohio. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of the personal injury claim process, and the ability to function well in a high-paced environment. H2: Duties and Responsibilities The Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal will assist litigation attorneys by providing support services, including: - Meeting with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects - Requesting medical records, itemized billing statements, and subrogation liens - Reviewing medical records, itemized billing statements, and other accident-related documentation for relevance - Assembling special packages - Filing motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures - Entering attorney time into Timeslips - Scheduling appointments and meetings - Calendaring appointments, meetings, and court dates - Preparing, organizing, storing, and retrieving case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, deposition transcripts, pleadings, and other items - Performing other related duties as assigned H2: Required Skills and Abilities The successful candidate must possess the following skills and abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Understanding of legal language and principles, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters - Knowledge of how to request medical records, itemized billing statements, and liens - Knowledge of the personal injury claim process - Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail - Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Strong organizational and prioritization skills - Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment - Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software - Some related experience required - Ability to draft legal documents including routine pleadings, motions, orders, affidavits, and discovery requests preferred but not required H2: Education and Experience - High school diploma or GED required - Paralegal Certificate or degree preferred - Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal preferred H2: Salary Competitive salary based on experience.
