Legal Assistant/Paralegal The candidate must be personable and detail oriented with excellent communication, document preparation and English grammar skills. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in civil litigation (including personal injury and/or insurance defense), family law, estate planning and probate. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, pro se litigants, courts and other third parties. Draft correspondence, pleadings, notices, motions and orders. Draft/answer written discovery. Schedule and calendar court appearances, depositions and sensitive deadlines. Set up and organize both simple and complex legal files, assemble trial prep notebooks. File electronically in federal and state courts. Obtain, analyze and index medical records and billing. Research property records, business and professional licensure, etc. Should have Knowledge of federal and state statutes, rules and procedures. Should have Familiarity with federal e-filing (including PACER/CM-ECF). Should have strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to prioritize and multi-task. Should be proficient computer skills, including extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
