Attorney The Candidate will review files for suit-worthiness, and identify (and evaluate the merits of) potential problems, disputes, affirmative defense, and/or counterclaims. Draft, review, and file all types of litigation-related documents (such as pleadings, motions, stipulations, notices, bills of costs, executions, etc.). Appear at motion hearings, pretrial conferences, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, etc., the vast majority of which are conducted in New York. Conduct trials in both New York Supreme Court and New York Civil Court and possibly also in New Jersey Superior Court. Engage in lengthy, and sometimes complex, settlement discussions with adversaries. Analyze and process reports, as assigned by the Managing Attorney, to ensure that all matters are being properly litigated. Utilize the firms software to properly update and document the status of each matter as it is being worked. Comply with all standard operational procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. The Candidate must have membership in good standing with the State Bar of New York. Membership in good standing with the State Bar of New Jersey is essential. A minimum of 1 year of litigation/trial experience is needed. Should be well versed in Court Room Practice. Proficient Computer Skills including extensive experience in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook are required. Collection experience is preferred.
