Paralegal - Estate Planning and Probate Duties: Work closely with attorneys in matters involving estate planning and probate. Work closely with the clients to ensure their wellbeing and support them as they move through the process. Ensure extensive communication with clients, financial planners, and accountants. Assist attorney(s) with the administration of probate estates, conservatorship accounts, testamentary trusts, and private trust accounts. Representative tasks include preparing probate tax returns, inventories, and fiduciary accountings. Maintain checkbook and banking record; pay bills, and compute and disburse beneficiary distributions. Prepare asset transfer documents, such as deeds, asset assignments, and designated beneficiary forms. Compute and pay executor and trustee commissions. Prepare formal and informal estate and trust accountings. Marshall assets and arranging for valuation as necessary. Read and interpret Wills and trust instruments. Prepare and file all documents required to probate wills. Prepare receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits, accounting petitions. Handle issuance and revocation of letters and other miscellaneous proceedings including preparation of petitions and overseeing service on interested parties. Organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems. Gather and arrange necessary legal documents for client files and attorney review. Ensure cases organized by establishing and maintaining files. Qualifications: College degree or paralegal certification. 2+ years of Estate Planning and Probate experience working as a Paralegal. Knowledge of Guardianship and Elder Care a plus. Excellent ability to work and compassionately communicate with clients. Build responsive client relationships. Experience in Microsoft Office, Westlaw Form Builder, and Practice Panther. Strong excel and math skills are critical. Logical decision-making. Strong initiative with the ability to problem-solve. Extremely high attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong understanding of tax forms. Effective time management. Strong follow-up and follow-through. Resourceful and solution-oriented. Focused organizational skills. Self-motivated to work independently with very little supervision. Efficiently multitask; flexible. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the expertise to draft correspondence.
