Criminal Defense Paralegal Duties: Preparing and filing legal documents in municipal, justice, county, and federal courts. Calendaring court dates and managing client deadlines. Managing client files including, updating client information, notes, time, and expenses in Clio, our client management software. Interacting with and obtaining information from clients, law enforcement agencies, court officials, prosecutors, witnesses, experts, and others. Daily client communication. Assist in trial preparation. Provide a positive experience to ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications: Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing, proofing materials, calendaring, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines. Knowledge of technical legal terms, knowledge of criminal defense procedures a plus. Must be a pro-active problem solver with the ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to prepare legal pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence. Ability to analyze situations and use good judgment in making decisions. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with Clio a plus. Must be responsible, reliable, and maintain confidentiality. Ability to interact effectively with staff and clients. Experience with state and federal appellate court filings a plus.
