Legal Secretary The candidate will manage civil litigation and work for an attorney with a heavy docket. Prepare legal and administrative correspondence and documents. Prepare timesheets. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, agencies and the general public. Maintain client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential. Maintain attorney calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, depositions and travel; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings and filing requirements. Log, docket and schedule administrative hearings. Prepare notices of hearings and sends to interested parties. Log and distribute incoming mail to other personnel; attaches incoming correspondence to case file and related materials needed for action. Proofread and correct prepared materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and content. Organize and maintain documents and case files. Prepare legal correspondence, pledging, prepares discovery. Prepare hearing/trial notebooks and documents. 3 - 4 years of experience as a litigation legal assistance preferred. Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system required. Excellent secretarial and organizational skills are required. Knowledge of legal practices, case management and terminology required. Excellent spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and grammar skills are required. Good communication skills required. Microsoft Word, WordPerfect and Outlook required.
