Part-time Labor and Employment Paralegal The candidate will be serving a broad range of employers in management, civil and administrative litigation, union-labor relations, and other employment-related areas. Will be responsible for supporting attorneys in Labor and Employment matters in areas such as client management, matter organization and deadline maintenance, case investigation, litigation support, policy and handbook development, and document preparation. Perform a variety of substantive and procedural legal work. Perform legal and factual research. Maintain complete organization of client and matter files, including general office functions such as creating physical files and filing materials appropriately. Identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material. Organize, analyze and validate information. Prepare written reports, including case summaries. Prepare legal documents including: subpoenas, record and information requests, employment policies and handbooks, contracts and legal memoranda. Track, calendar and advise attorneys on litigation deadlines. Prepare correspondence, check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy. Assist with all aspects of deposition, trial and arbitration preparation. Generate reports detailing upcoming deadlines. Assist with all aspects of discovery, including: document requests, document review, management of document productions and electronic databases. Organize and coordinate litigation holds and electronically stored information (ESI) review. Cite check and shepardize briefs. Prepare quality tables of contents and authorities. The candidate should have an education sufficient to hold paralegal certification in California. Current continuing legal education and valid paralegal certification needed. Should have 3+ years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or similar environment. Must be an experienced certified Paralegal with excellent legal secretarial and organizational skills. Employment-law or human resources background is a plus, as is strong recent document preparation (formatting, tabling, etc.) expertise. Knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents and legal processes needed. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Should be proficient in the use of Lexis Advance and Westlaw. Proficiency in NetDocuments, Bill4Time, Ring Central, Deadines on Demand, and other services used by the firm (maintain almost all information via cloud-based services). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal needed. Strong time management skills essential. Strong organization skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail needed.
